 About the Genetics Policy InstituteThe Genetics Policy Institute (GPI) is a leading promoter and defender of stem cell research and other cutting-edge medical research seeking cures. They are the catalyst and provide leadership to the Pro-Cures Movement, an influential global network of stakeholders patient advocates, scientists and biotechnology companies.They seek to advance the cause for cures through conferences, publications, media appearances, editorials, web site, speakers and teaching initiatives. They educate the public, media and key decision-makers on critical issues relating to stem cell research. GPI publishes the World Stem Cell Report covering the leading edge of stem cell research in both the public and private domains and assists both the professional and reader to better understand the complexities of this rapidly growing and burgeoning field of science. One of GPI’s special education projects is the Student Society for Stem Cell Research (SSSCR), which is a network of more than 3,500 students in 15 countries, 35 states with more than 30 chapters at colleges and universities. SSSCR is the largest grassroots organization in existence with the sole purpose of advancing this field. In 2008, GPI will convene the World Stem Cell Summit on September 22-23 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, co-sponsored by WiCell Research Institute and the University of Wisconsin Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center.
