December 10, 2012Stem cell researcher sues Nobel Assembly in 2012 award dispute
He filed his lawsuit in California this week against the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute. Dr. Xu is currently is chairman of MEBO International Group, a private enterprise engaged in life science that he founded in 1987. MEBO has offices in Beijing and in Arcadia, California.
Much of the company’s work is focused on skin regeneration for burn victims.
In his lawsuit, Dr. Xu claims he discovered “regenerative” cells in 1984. He cites libel and unfair competition and claims he was defamed by the Assembly. At press time, the Nobel Assembly had not yet seen the suit so could not comment, according to a press release posted on its website.
