Glucose Oxidase Mobilizes HSPCs

In a new STEM CELLS Translational Medicine article, researchers led by Jeong-Chae Lee and Sung-Ho Kook (Jeonbuk National University, Jeonju, South Korea) demonstrate, for the first time, that glucose oxidase promotes peripheral mobilization of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) that maintain their function in conditioned recipients without hematopoietic and immunological disorders. So et al. highlight the mobilizing potential of that glucose oxidase even in mice exhibiting poor HSPC mobilization and shows that glucose oxidase acts synergistically with commonly used mobilizers without adverse events.
